My name is Tony Smith, the man behind Lake Bonneville Layout Boats (LBLB). Over the years, a lot of folks have asked me what I hope to achieve by introducing “just another layout boat” into the waterfowling arena. Well, my philosophy is simple –
It’s not my intent nor did I set out to reinvent the wheel. Rather, my goal – and I believe my achievement – has been to make the wheel better.
Today, I have 24 waterfowl seasons under my belt, and I’ve been blessed with the time and the resources necessary that I might experience some of the nation’s finest duck hunting – and this from coast to coast, including the wonderful state of Alaska. For 18 years, I specifically targeted divers – redheads, canvasbacks, bluebills, goldeneyes, buffleheads, and a variety of sea ducks. What I learned from these birds lead to the creation of our first layout boat, The Apparition. And what I learned was that in order to be consistently successful on the water, you need the right tools.
But before you start thinking that Lake Bonneville Layout Boats are just for divers – well, they’re not. Pintails, mallards, gadwalls, Canada geese, tundra swans; just as a handsaw cuts several different types of wood, so too are LBLBs an effective tool for a variety of different species, and under a wide range of conditions. Wind, waves, emergent vegetation, deep water, shallow water, open water – a Lake Bonneville Layout Boat fits the bill, and fits it like a good hammer fits your hand!
I’ve spent years listening, watching, sketching, cutting, testing – striving to create the perfect water-based portable blind, and I believe you’ll agree Lake Bonneville Layout Boats are as close to perfection as the industry has come. From our flagship skiff, The Apparition, to the newest addition to the LBLB line, The Little Buddy, Lake Bonneville Layout Boats have been designed with only one thing in mind – YOU, and your success afield.
Remember – Anyone can be lucky. With Lake Bonneville Layout Boats, it’s all about consistency.
